A complicated relationship

A complicated relationship

Inthe land of my birth, a twisted bond I hold,

A complex dance with a past so bold.

Where youth fell to the merciless knife,

Thousands tormented, ghosts in the strife.

In the silence, they vanished,

A dreadful truth, a legacy banished.

Cruel echoes of police and army,

A harmony of sorrow, a tragic swarm.

As a teenager, engraved in my brain,

The mass killings, a story inhumane.

I cannot forget, the scars remain,

A complicated relationship, locked in a chain.
