Running Away, Writing It Down

Running Away, Writing It Down

Islipped out of school as soon as I could.

The thought of the HSC and two more years of enforced learning,

When all I wanted was to become a movie maker,

It felt unbearable.

At fifteen, the classrooms were airless,

the rules endless, and the future too far away.

It was stifling.

Igot out in the world, to an ivy university

I studied accounting instead of film making

But I wrote, journals and drew

I became a better writer with my journals and diaries

I drew for the village fairs

Nobody seemed to mind what I did

I was just making up as I went along
